MEET OUR FOUNDERS

Founder of Arlington Ave Skincare
I'm Mary

I come from a family of scientists. We own research laboratories specializing in testing materials and products. Safety for consumers and the environment is a top priority for us. In the research lab, we have worked behind the scenes on many of the products you use every day. "Clean Beauty" is more than just a buzzword - safe ingredients is in our DNA. Our mission is to create a community that empowers consumers with expert knowledge to make informed decisions about their skin and health.

Cosmetic Chemist
I'm Angela

I am a bio-analytical chemist with a wealth of expertise in material science. It may surprise you to learn that all products we consume, whether they are natural or synthetic, are made up of chemicals. Having studied material science extensively, I have gained an in-depth understanding of the potential benefits and drawbacks of different chemicals and how they can impact both the human body and the environment.

WHAT MAKES OUR SKINCARE APPROACH DIFFERENT?

At Arlington Ave, we believe in a skincare approach that's rooted in cutting-edge research and driven by data. Our formulations are carefully crafted based on the latest findings from our state-of-the-art research lab and insights from the FDA regarding skin allergies and sensitivities related to cosmetics and personal care products.

Consumer behaviors have evolved dramatically over the past 40 years. With the advances of technology, marketing and the influence of social media, skincare has become more accessible than ever. People are now encouraged to incorporate more products into their daily routines, resulting in an increased consumption of skincare and hair care products. However, this proliferation of products has come at a cost.

Traditional cosmetic formulations often contain numerous additives and chemicals, with an average skincare product containing fifty or more chemicals. This excessive chemical exposure can lead to sensitized skin, disrupt the skin's natural microorganisms, and ultimately result in long-term skin disruptions. It's time for a change.

ANGRY SKIN LEAD US HERE

Hi there, it's Mary πŸ‘‹πŸΌ. Let me share with you the inspiring story of how Arlington Ave came into existence. It all started in the research laboratory, where I witnessed countless product formulations that were filled with complicated ingredients that only a PhD analytical chemist could understand. As someone who struggled with sensitive skin and breakouts, I tried various products and struggled to find products that were both effective at targeting my skin concerns and respected sensitive skin. In fact, using too many products at once led to my skin becoming even more sensitized.

After conducting some research, I discovered that I was using nearly 200 different chemicals in my daily beauty routine. To my dismay, I learned that I was not alone. Many women use 12 beauty products a day, exposing their skin to 168 chemicals, while men use 6 products daily with 85 ingredients, on average. This realization was alarming. Researching allergens in cosmetics, I discovered that the FDA also reports a rise in cosmetic usage and skin allergies.

I sought the advice of chemists about cosmetics and personal care product ingredients and formulations. I learned that these products often contain high concentrations of water, which leads to the use of additional additives, some of which are skin sensitizers and allergens. To address this issue, I turned to my mother, Angela, a seasoned chemist with over 40 years of experience. Our goal was to create effective products that would not overload the skin. Angela worked to simplify her formulations by reducing the number of ingredients and prioritizing those that are beneficial for skin health. She also removed the use of water and eliminated sensitizing ingredients like essential oils and preservatives wherever possible. This resulted in concentrated products that provides more skin-friendly ingredients while avoiding exposure to problematic ingredients for the skin and the planet. Our approach delivers more actives with fewer ingredients, without compromising the quality or integrity of the product. This is especially beneficial for individuals with sensitive or breakout-prone skin, like myself, and also helps to reduce stress on our water footprint.

In 2020, we launched Arlington Ave with a commitment to people and the environment. We create products that not only make your skin look healthy but also make you feel good about what you're putting on your skin and what you're putting back into the world. We're proud to offer a brand that's both innovative and sustainable, providing a better way to care for your skin and the planet.

With a research laboratory and the help of scientists, our products do more with less, minimizing the quantity of ingredients our customers use without sacrificing quality or effectiveness. And by reducing the amount of waste generated from traditional skincare products, we're demonstrating that water is not a necessary ingredient in skincare and that concentrated products can provide superior benefits without the environmental impact or the need for excessive skincare routines.

At Arlington Ave, we're committed to offering skincare solutions that supports healthy and happy skin.
